Eurotrip

Day 1:

We started the trip in early August 2022 with a small motorhome, a Nissan NV200. We didn't have much equipment, but we did have a pop-up roof, a bed, and a heater. The rest of the gear was improvised: a shower with a large canister and a 12V pump, two camping gas stoves, a portable table that we could set up both inside and outside, two large plastic boxes with food and cooking utensils, and our two 60-liter backpacks for clothes. We also had insulation for the windows and roof and some blankets.

The first stop was supposed to be somewhere between Barcelona and Switzerland. Looking at Google Maps, we selected Annecy (France), which was about a 7-hour drive, plus a few more since there was a lot of traffic at the border, making us arrive at night.

One thing we didn't expect the next day was to find one of the biggest fireworks spectacle in Europe, the "Fête du Lac.". The festival takes place, as its name suggests, on Lake Aneccy. We watched the show from the free place; if you want the best location, you can buy tickets.

The show lasted almost an hour, we could see a light drone show, fireworks synchronized with music like Queen, and a water and light spectacle. It was, without a doubt, the most impressive fireworks display we'd ever seen.

We appreciated the city's welcome, so we decided to spend a few more days in Annecy. Our next destination will be Annemasse, somewhere between the Swiss and French borders. We don't stray far from Annecy, as during this stop we rest in a hotel and stock the fridge with food. Annemasse welcomes us with beautiful light and large mountains on the horizon.
